A week from today we all will be celebrating Labor Day.

I have only one question: since its called labor day… shouldn’t everyone be working instead of given the day off?

Like every other holiday thats not Christmas or Thanksgiving or Easter, the people of Orlando are sure to celebrate by firing up the grill. We have been invited to a cookout, so we get the pleasure of kicking back while someone else does all the work.

But if you happen to be the one turning the meat over the coals, here are some helpful hints and advice.

1. Start early: there is nothing I hate more than being told we’ll eat at 2pm, and not eating until 4 or 5pm because no one started the coals up early enough.

2. Stick to the list: if you were invited to someone else’s home, don’t invite other people to come with you… its just rude and insensitive.

3. Get all your supplies early instead of waiting until Sunday evening, when you know Wal-mart Supercenter is going to be super chaotic.

And lastly…

4. If you can’t hold your liquor, then don’t act as though you can… its just embarassing…. for all of us.
